My Robot Buddy
Cozy Daydreaming
This is a result of exploring a new lighting setup for the monthly challenge of the My Robot Buddy scene. I wanted to practice reading and understanding reference images.
This is the image that I took as a reference for this project. My goal for this scene was to create an image that could convey the sense of daydreaming on a cozy rainy day while staying as accurate to the reference as possible.
By analyzing the references, I noticed the image's lighting gave the girl a nice strong rim that separated her from the window. Still, if following the same lighting on my scene, it would have been too harsh for the character's face, as the asset was positioned differently from the image. Since I was going for a cozy warm feeling, I decided to go for softer, warmer shadows.
Scene is available in the Academy of Animated Art's marketplace.
